Position Overview:

We are looking for a Survey Party Chief to join our team for a rotational position at an oil sands site near Fort McMurray. The shift will be 14 days on and 7 days off, flying in and staying in camp for the duration of their work shift, adjusting with the seasonal workload as required. This is a position for someone with significant experience working in the energy sector as you will most often be required to work on your own. You will collaborate with our experienced project managers to complete a variety of field survey assignments.

This position will be located outside of Fort McMurray so would be an excellent opportunity for those already residing in the area. There are also regular flights to and from the site for those living in the Calgary and Edmonton areas.

General Responsibilities:

• Setup and operate various survey equipment including GPS/GNSS Rovers, Total Stations, Locators, etc.
• Performs a variety of field survey assignments, working closely with the project manager and other staff.
• Communicates effectively with the project manager and the rest of the team.
• Prepares comprehensive field notes, computations, and other documentation as required.
• Performs all health and safety duties as identified in the company’s safety procedures.

• Ensures all company equipment and vehicles are properly operated and maintained.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Geomatics or related field
• 3+ years of previous survey experience, preferably working in the energy sector
• Physically fit and able to work outside in the field in tough conditions

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license

• Any valid safety certificates are an asset (i.e. H2S, First Aid, CSTS, Wildlife Awareness)
