What you’ll do
The CTFS Corporate Accounting team is committed to the Finance division’s mandate and consists of highly skilled, focused and motivated finance professionals. As the Senior Financial Analyst, you will be required to work closely with the Accounting Operations, Financial Planning & Analysis, Credit Risk, and CTC External Reporting teams to complete reporting and analysis activities for Canadian Tire Bank.
What you’ll do
- Ensure the financial results for CTFS are in compliance with IFRS and provide accurate and timely reports and analysis to Management and the CTB Audit Committee
- Prepare and review significant analyses, reports, cash flow statements, journal entries and reconciliations as part of the monthly financial reporting and review process
- Analyze significant variances, key metrics and business trends
- Assist with preparation of the audited annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS
- Identify and execute process improvements
- Provide recommendations on accounting treatment for transactions, business initiatives and contracts in accordance with IFRS
- Execute and maintain documentation of controls
- Work on special projects as required
- Provide supervision and coaching to other team members within the department
What you bring
- University degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance
- CPA designation required
- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting/finance experience, including the preparation of financial statements
- Ability to act decisively and deal with deadlines during peak periods
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships
- Strong problem solving, analytical and strategic thinking skills; able to see the “big picture” in a complex business environment
- Advanced PC skills including Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with internal and external audit processes
- Working knowledge of PeopleSoft accounting system and HFM is an asset
- Financial institution experience is an asset
