Join a progressive and motivated team at Sturgeon Public Schools! We are currently seeking a School Communications Advisor. The successful candidate will work out of our Central Office which is located in Morinville just minutes north of the City of St. Albert.

The School Communications Advisor is responsible for managing and coordinating the communication efforts of the individual schools within the Sturgeon Public School Division. This includes overseeing website content, social media accounts, and photo and video content creation. The successful candidate will work closely with school administrators, office staff, teachers, and marketing personnel to develop and execute communication strategies that support the goals and objectives of each school.

FTE:1.0 FTE; Monday to Friday; 35 hrs/week; Full-Time Temporary

Responsibilities:

· Collaborate with each school’s designated social media and website person to update website content, incorporate branding, and create engaging social media content

· Attend key events in schools to capture photo and video content for social media and other promotional materials

· Assist the Manager of Marketing and Communications with pitching stories to the media that highlight important events in Sturgeon Public Schools

· Assist in creating photo and video content for larger projects and initiatives

· Monitor social media channels to identify and respond to any issues or concerns

· Keep up to date with industry trends, social media platforms, and digital marketing techniques

Qualifications:

· An Educational background in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field

· 2 or more years of experience in marketing or communications

· Knowledge of the public education sector is an asset

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Strong organizational and project management skills

· Ability to work independently and in a team environment

· Knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube

· Proficiency in video editing software such as Final Cut and Adobe Premiere Pro

· Experience with copywriting, video editing, photography, digital marketing, and/or search engine optimization are an asset

The Sturgeon Public School Division offers a competitive salary range of $3,731 - $4,562 monthly as well as a comprehensive benefits package as per the General Employment Conditions.
